Dear Calendar Working Group Members,
This evening we attended the school board working session to discuss our group’s recommendation. After approximately 45 minutes of round table discussion, the school board members agreed to continue with further investigation into an 8:30 or later start time for grades 5-12 and a district-wide balanced calendar.
Next, district administration will be assembling a plan to create additional working groups to delve into the logistics of these recommendations for Austin Public Schools.
Throughout tonight’s meetings as well as the initial school board meeting, our working group received OODLES of praise in regards to the work this group has done. Brandon and I would like to thank you again for all of your hard work and commitment. We enjoyed experiencing this process with you.
Keep your eyes peeled for any more information from our district administration regarding next steps. You would be an asset to any future conversations surrounding these recommendations.
