Dear calendar working group members, We had a very productive and stimulating meeting tonight. Here is the gist of our work. With Corey’s diligent effort to efficiently edit the draft, we finalized the survey that will be administered in January to stakeholders. YEAH! As requested during the meeting, the drafting sub-group will design and develop an informational push (parent portal, fliers, radio, television, newspaper, etc…) to stakeholders providing links to calendar work/research and an introduction to the upcoming survey prior to its administration. If you would like to view the finalized survey, please follow the link below to the Google Folder. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-scOJ0aSC9cfjluTnFqNXhxZzJCUXN1LWZWX1VSYUdoOTNqa1ltak4zWFMxejZONG9xX1E Even through a snow storm, we persevered and achieved our goal! Jill and Gus Dear Calendar Working Group, Have I told you lately how great you are? Wow! Thank you for your dedication to this group and your engagement in creating a survey that will provide critical information to our school board on balanced calendar and school start times. Here is what we covered tonight...
Finally, the group made a motion for the sub-group of individuals who created the initial draft to make some additional edits to prior to our November 30th meeting. Once the sub-group makes those additional edits, I will send you the latest and greatest survey for your review prior to our next meeting. Once again it is always a pleasure working with you. Below you will find a couple of pictures of our working group members enjoying delicious treats while they work diligently at this very important work. I hope to see you there on the 30th! Thank you all for the wonderful work in today’s meeting!
Here is a recap of what we accomplished:
This meeting was videotaped and will be posted in the Google Folder by the end of the week, which you may access by clicking on the link below… https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-scOJ0aSC9cfjluTnFqNXhxZzJCUXN1LWZWX1VSYUdoOTNqa1ltak4zWFMxejZONG9xX1E For the next meeting on November 16th, we will be bringing a draft survey for the group to review and modify to help us meet the goals of the working group. As always, it was great to see you and we are ALREADY looking forward to our next meeting! Jill and Gus Greetings!
Once again great work occurred during our calendar group meeting tonight. By way of review here is what we accomplished…
Gus and I always appreciate our time together with you. Thank you for committing to this working group. See you on Monday, November 2nd! Jill and Gus Greetings fellow calendar working group members!
It was very nice to see all of your smiling faces tonight at the meeting. We were able to accomplish a lot and WE GOT OUT EARLY! Here is a summary of our work tonight… First we revisited our Road Map and identified we are still in the process of interviewing stakeholders. As soon as our group feels they have gathered enough insight and perspective from these interviews we will move forward with a round table discussion to lead us to the creation of a survey. Members in their sub-groups continued to share feedback from the interviews. Then each sub-group created tasks to seek out voices that are missing. (See Padlet for list of stakeholders to interview: http://padlet.com/jill_rollie/8t1hy2etz0fd) We concluded the meeting utilizing PollEverywhere to ask working group members if they needed additional time to complete interviews. The majority said they would like one more meeting to continue interviewing, at which point we will check in again to see if we need additional time. If you would like to review all documents, you may find them on the google link listed below. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-scOJ0aSC9cfjluTnFqNXhxZzJCUXN1LWZWX1VSYUdoOTNqa1ltak4zWFMxejZONG9xX1E Our feedback from the group tonight was primarily centered around the need for more team members in attendance. In addition, if you know of individuals that would like to join a dynamic, fun, and witty group (with treats) please invite them to our next meeting on October 19th. All are welcome! We look forward to seeing you again in October (with friends)! Gus and Jill Hello!
We hope you have enjoyed your summer! Gus and I are very excited to pick up where we left off in June with the calendar working group. We have been working very hard to create an efficient and meaningful plan to successfully accomplish our mission statements, which are… School Start Times Inform the stakeholders, gather information, and draw conclusions regarding the feasibility of an 8:30 or later start time (for grades 5-12) to be shared with the school board. Balanced Calendar Inform the stakeholders, gather information, and draw conclusions regarding the feasibility of a district-wide balanced calendar to be shared with the school board. In addition, here are a couple of articles (for your reading pleasure) of recent news with balanced calendar and school day. https://www.nokidhungry.org/sites/default/files/NKH_MicroReport_SummerHunger.pdf http://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2015/p0806-school-sleep.html As always we appreciate all of your time and hard work that you contribute to the mission of this group. Listed below are the dates to all of our very engaging and wonderfully fun meetings! I will send out calendar requests. September 21st October 19th November 2nd November 16th February 1st February 29th We look forward to seeing you in September and continuing to work with YOU! Jill and Gus Wonderful Calendar 2.0 Working Group,
Thank you for your diligent work today. By way of review here is what our group accomplished… · We reviewed some of the feedback that Jill and Brandon received from last meeting. Overall the group continues to appreciate the organization and efficiency of the group, but wanted clarification on the group’s vision. · Brandon and Jill reviewed the group’s mission and presented the roadmap (see slide 5 in PowerPoint). · Groups received time to process their interview and evaluate the effectiveness of the interview template · After groups completed their discussion, we talked as a whole group and made a couple of changes to our interview template (see attachment). Group members will continue to interview stakeholders to share with the group in September. (Here is the link to the padlet http://padlet.com/jill_rollie/8t1hy2etz0fd) · We said goodbye to Brandon as he will be enrolled in a grad program at Harvard University next year. Never fear Derik Gustafson will be Jill’s new partner in crime. If you would like to review all documents, you may find them on the google link listed below. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-scOJ0aSC9cfjluTnFqNXhxZzJCUXN1LWZWX1VSYUdoOTNqa1ltak4zWFMxejZONG9xX1E We hope you are enjoying summer and we will see you again in September! Starting in the fall this group will be meeting once a month and we will send you those dates as soon as they are determined. Thanks! Jill, Brandon, and Derik |
